Hendee Force 12 Construction and Testing

Force 12 high impact wind screen provides a totally new concept in hurricane protection and hurricane safety. Featuring advanced window protection from hurricane damage, this new 100% polypropylene basket woven fabric makes storm windows and storm protection accordion shutters seem antiquated. These durable hurricane protection nets are designed to repel flying debris, and are a proven storm window protection for residential, industrial and commercial properties. This fabric shield hurricane protection can be used for walkways, glass walls and garage doors as well. Rated for a category 5 Hurricane, Force 12 wind screen can take a 120-mile an hour wind on one side and turn it into a 3-mile an hour breeze on the other side. Installed at an angle away from the building, and reinforced with 2000 lb. webbing, the fabric is tensioned to withstand impacts that could shatter a concrete wall. The result is a protection system that affords the strongest window protection from hurricane conditions available. This incredible storm safety product is lightweight, easy to install, easy to store, and reusable even after debris impact. Infinite span widths are available and this durable fabric hurricane protection has a significant degree of translucence, which helps prevent that boxed in feeling when the storm protection material is in place outside windows and doors.

Force 12 has passed the large and small missile impact test in Dade County Florida, as well as ASTM standard test, clearly substantiating the exceptional structural integrity and durability carefully designed into every aspect of this innovative system. The Force 12 certified test specifications below confirm the product’s superior strengths.

Static Air Pressure: design load +/- 60 psf.  Test specimen taken to 90 psf with no resultant weakening of the test specimen.

Impact Test – Large Missile: 2” x 4” board weighing 9 lbs impacted at speed exceeding 50 ft/ sec. No penetration or damage to test subject. Maximum test require impact of a specimen, once in the corner and once in the middle with a large missile. The Force 12 screen was struck three times in the same location with no resulting damage or weakening of the test specimen.

Fatigue Load Test: Design +/- 60psf. No weakening of the Force 12 system was noted.

Note: Three separate Force 12 screen specimens were tested as per Dade County requirements. Although it was allowable to change the track attachment system with each specimen, it was decided to use the same Force 12 track system for all tests. The repeated stress throughout the entire testing series had no resultant effects on the strength or stability of the track system.
